Bio

Melanie is a multidisciplinary artist, primarily working with oil paint. Based in the Northern Rivers, she lives and works on Bundjalung Country. Melanie began her artistic endeavours at a young age when her parents realised a few pencils and paper could keep her occupied for hours. She studied a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) at the National Art School, Sydney.

Within her practice, Melanie finds solace and inspiration in nature. Her awe of the natural landscape permeates her work, through colour palette or composition. The natural landscape often becomes a metaphor, a starting point, the bones for other themes underpinning the work she is exploring.
